The CDH16 antibody (MSVA-516R) is a recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody optimized for immunohistochemical (IHC) detection of Cadherin-16 (CDH16 / Ksp-cadherin) in human tissues. CDH16 is a kidney- and thyroid-specific cell adhesion protein predominantly localized to the cell membrane, with additional cytoplasmic expression in epithelial cells.
This antibody produces strong, predominantly membranous staining in renal distal tubuli and collecting ducts, with moderate staining in proximal tubuli, reflecting physiological CDH16 expression. Colon and gastrointestinal tissues remain CDH16-negative, supporting high specificity for renal and thyroid epithelium.

Expression & Research Relevance
In normal tissues, CDH16 is strongly expressed in kidney tubules and thyroid follicular cells, while most other organs are negative. In cancer research, CDH16 immunostaining is commonly observed in renal tumors and has also been reported in thyroid, endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancers, making it a useful marker for renal epithelial differentiation and tumor origin studies.
Validation
MSVA-516R has been validated in large tissue cohorts, with staining patterns consistent with published data from the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) and TCGA RNA expression datasets.
